Château Sociando-Mallet
Haut-Médoc, on a gravel ridge overlooking the estuary — the same soil as its classified neighbours in Saint-Estèphe. Sociando-Mallet has never applied for a classification and does very well without one: the wine is dense, built for ageing, and ages better than many more highly classified estates. One of the bottles we recommend to anyone who wants to start a cellar without breaking the bank.
