Bandol — not Côtes de Provence. It is a different matter altogether: mourvèdre gives reds built for ten years of ageing, tannic and smoky in their youth, magnificent afterwards. Pibarnon sits high up, on limestone terraces, and is one of the three or four benchmarks of the appellation.
